I personally like to think of myself as open-minded. But today I was thinking, how much is too much? I personally try to accept and be understanding of any idea, culture, religion, etc. But I was thinking, could there come a point when someone's so accepting of all beliefs that they lose track of themselves? Could understanding and accepting everyone and everything make you lose sight of who you are?
That got me thinking about how close minded I am about certain things. When it comes to religion, I accept other people believing what they want to believe, and I don't judge.
I accept all cultures for what they are. No judging there.
For me, it's smaller things that I am close minded about. For instance, parenting styles. Everyone has their own parenting styles, but I have trouble accepting some. If I believe someone's parenting style is either to harsh, or too negligent, I tend to judge. I base a lot of what I think of someone based on how they treat and raise their kids.
So I just wonder where I fall. Should we be open-minded about some things, and not others. Or is being open-minded really accepting everyone's thoughts and beliefs on EVERYTHING?

I definitely judge on parenting. I had to cut my losses with one friend who didn't give a darn about her child - who had tried to kill himself. She was more worried about the time she had to take off work for him. The mom was actually mad at the kid for trying to kill himself. TWISTED!!!!
